Jumping Kills You is a prototype game created for the Metroidvania Month 14 game jam. As the title suggests the concept of the game is that jumping decreases your health. The goal of the game is to navigate through sections of platforms that increase or decrease your health and to obtain new abilities that help you reach the end. The controls can be found in game or here:

Arrow Keys - Move

Space - Jump/Dash

Shift - View Map

Ctrl - Create Temporary Save Point

Good game - good amount of challenge without feeling too unfair. Feel like the dash could maybe do with some animation rather than an instant jump to help with landing afterwards as that could sometimes get frustrating. Overall very enjoyable

I got as far as here and then couldn't get any further. Unsure of what I was missing. Tried to back track but wasn't able to make it.

There were some excellent puzzles up to that point. Some nicely frustrating and well thought out.

Checkpoints could have been a little more numerous.

The blue reset switches that were also next to the charge +1 jump were sometimes fiddly.

Movement was a little slow but I could see some of the puzzles being really hard if movement was faster. I some areas it got really slow.

The temporary save point didn't always work but never broke anything. Maybe there is a check for closeness or ability to get to full jump count or something.

Overall this is really good stuff. I played Project Deepdark and this is so much more sophisticated and polished. Best of luck with the jam and I look forward to your next release!

Edit: Ok..managed to back track and got some kind of power up. I think it might have activated some blocks or something? Never got whatever was in the far left. Got down to the basement and couldn't make it past the switch platforms.

u were missimg 1 required healthpoint) it was underground(

Thanks!

I did actually attempt again and managed it. It was the healthpoint kind of close to the beginning.
This was a really good puzzle platformer. Reminded me a little bit of Ferociter's stuff.
